Daniel 7 - Fourth beast with 10 horns (East and West Europe in the latter days)

Daniel 7:7
7 After this I saw in the night visions, and behold a fourth beast, dreadful and terrible, and strong exceedingly; and it had great iron teeth: it devoured and brake in pieces, and stamped the residue with the feet of it: and it was diverse from all the beasts that were before it; and it had ten horns.

23 Thus he said, The fourth beast shall be the fourth
kingdom upon earth, which shall be diverse from all kingdoms, and shall devour the whole earth, and shall tread it down, and break it in pieces.
24 And the ten horns out of this kingdom are ten kings that shall arise: and another shall rise after them; and he shall be diverse from the first, and he shall subdue three kings.

One of the most characteristic European institutions is the nation-state which developed over a period of centuries from the late Middle Ages to the era of the Frencd Revelution, based initionally on loyalty to a.particular Monarch or Dynasty, and later on the union of a people with a common language and traditions.England, France, Spain had achieved nationhood by the 15th century, the Netherlands, Sweden, Prussia,and others followed in the 16th and 17th centuries. Out of this process came the doctrine of nationalism--the belief that every national group is intitled to independence and self determination,--which became the most powerful idealogical forces of the 19th and 20th centuries. There was a time period following the fall of the Eastern and Western divisions of the Roman Empire that no one strong government ( iron) rule over all people because of the human element (clay). The human element (clay) was the unique language and cultural differences that separate the masses of humanity from been ruled over by one central government. Out of the fall of the Western Division and Eastern Division of the Roman Empire nation states were beginning to develop. Unlike the image of Daniel 2 (see chart below) which showed the Roman Empire in different stages, the 4th beast with ten horns, like the ten toes of Daniel 2, inal f Daniel 2:44 where Daniel says that in the days of these kings (the 10 toes-horn nations) God would set up a kingdom that would last forever.

*Note: This fourth beast terrible, dreadful and exceedingly strong parallels the fourth metal of the image in Daniel 2 which would be the Roman empire. Great iron teeth parallels the iron in the image. The 10 horns parallels the 10 toes. The iron legs of the image of Daniel 2 showing the division of Roman Empire into East and West but is skipped over in the fourth beast of Daniel 7. The reason being the need to focus on the 10 horns and what happens among them which is not shown in Daniel 2 concerning the 10 toes. The number 10 (see 10 toes of Daniel 2) here is used as a round number (any number) and simply means the nations that would exist in the Roman empire area in the last days prior to and at the time Christ would return to establish the visible Kingdom of God. Both Daniel 2 and Daniel 7 did not see another kingdom following the Roman empire before God establishes His Kingdom. Daniel saw rather a resurrection of all these former empires (Babylonian, Persian, Grecian, Roman) into one monolithic super empire in the last days. How this is accomplished by the rise of antichrist is the subject of the remaining verses in Daniel 7.
