Daniel 12:1-4
1 And at that time shall Michael stand up,
the great prince which standeth for the children of thy people: and there shall be a time
of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time: and at that
time thy people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book.
2 And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting
life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt.
3 And they that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament; and they that turn
many to righteousness as the stars for ever and ever.
4 But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time of the end:
many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased.
1 And at that time shall Michael
stand up, the great prince which standeth for the children of thy people: and there shall
be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time:
and at that time thy people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book.
And 'at that time'
begins a new narrative. This is a standard prophetic method to fill in details not
mentioned in the main discourse of Daniel 11 which
was intoduced by Daniel 10. Daniel says that before
this great time of trouble - specifically the last 7 years before Christ returns known as
the Day of the Lord or Daniel's 70th week - see charts) that God's people will be
delivered - this would refer to the rapture as the
means of deliverance.
2 And many of them that sleep in
the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and
everlasting contempt.
3 And they that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament; and they that turn
many to righteousness as the stars for ever and ever.
The events of the rapture
are confirmed by Daniel because he talks about ' many' that sleep in the dust of the earth that awake (come back to life - resurrected). Some awake
to everlasting life and some to everlasting shame. Michael the archangel also goes into
action at that time. We know from Rev
12 and 1 thess 4:16 that Michael
and his angels will insure safe passage as the dead in Christ and the living are caught up
to meet the Lord in the air. Immediately after that Satan and his angels fight with
Michael and his angels and losing that battle are forced back down to the earth(see Rev 12, Daniel 7 page 5, Daniel 8 page 4).
1 THESS 4:16-15 1 COR 15:51-53
For the Lord himself
shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and
with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:
17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds,
to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
18 Wherefore comfort one another with these words.
51 Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed,
52 In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall
sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.
53 For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.
Note: Daniel 12:2 says that 'many'
but not all shall awake that sleep in the dust of the earth. Those that awake at this time
unto everlasting life are part of the process call 'the first
resurrection' (Rev 20:6 - see first resurrection complete). Those
that do not awake at this time will awake at the great white throne judgement and be
judged according to their works (Rev 20:11) .
Rev 20:6
Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the
first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of
God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years.
Rev 20:11
11 And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat
on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place
for them.
12 And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and
another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those
things which were written in the books, according to their works.
13 And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead
which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works.
14 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.
15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.
1 Cor 15:41
confirms what Daniel is saying about those that are resurrected to shine like stars
forever. This glory that each of us will receive will be like the stars of different
brightness. Our glory will be based on we have done for the kingdom of God while we were
here on earth.
1 Cor 15:41-44
41 There is one glory of the sun, and another glory
of the moon, and another glory of the stars: for one star differeth from another star in
glory.
42 So also is the resurrection of the dead. It is sown in corruption; it is raised in
incorruption:
43 It is sown in dishonour; it is raised in glory: it is sown in weakness; it is raised in
power:
44 It is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body. There is a natural body, and
there is a spiritual body.
Daniel also talks of those be resurrected to
eternal damnation and everlasting shame and contempt. This group would be the bad
fish and the tares in the parables of Jesus. They died unsaved having heard the gospel of
salvation but rejected it. The good fish and wheat in those same parables are those in the
church that died but were saved. At the time of the rapture
, we are told that first the angels seperate the unsaved dead into two groups. The bad
fish and tares receive bodies fit for hell and are cast into it. The remaining
unsaved dead will have to wait to be judged at the great white throne judgement. Then the
good fish and tares are resurrected to meet Christ at the rapture and receive immortal glorifed bodies like
Christ. (see Rapture for a fuller
understanding on the parables Jesus taught on this subject).
4 But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the
book, even to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be
increased.
Daniel was told to shut up
and seal the words he was told till the time of the end. Daniel was told two signs of the
end of the age: many shall run to and fro; knowledge shall be increased. The 20th century
saw the airplane, jet, space shuttle, automobile, bullet train, travel cruisers, radio,
telephone, wireless, internet, satelite. Going into the 21st century, the book of Daniel
is to be unsealed and open for all to read and understand. For the time of many of it's
prophetic fulfillments is at end.
Daniel 12:5-10
5 Then I Daniel looked, and, behold, there stood
other two, the one on this side of the bank of the river, and the other on that side of
the bank of the river.
6 And one said to the man clothed in linen, which was upon the waters of the river, How
long shall it be to the end of these wonders?
7 And I heard the man clothed in linen, which was upon the waters of the river, when he
held up his right hand and his left hand unto heaven, and sware by him that liveth for
ever that it shall be for a time, times, and an half; and when he shall have accomplished
to scatter the power of the holy people, all these things shall be finished.
8 And I heard, but I understood not: then said I, O my Lord, what shall be the end of
these things?
9 And he said, Go thy way, Daniel: for the words are closed up and sealed till the time of
the end.
10 Many shall be purified, and made white, and tried; but the wicked shall do wickedly:
and none of the wicked shall understand; but the wise shall understand.
5 Then I Daniel looked, and, behold, there
stood other two, the one on this side of the bank of the river, and the other on that side
of the bank of the river.
6 And one said to the man clothed in linen, which was upon the waters of the river, How
long shall it be to the end of these wonders?
7 And I heard the man clothed in linen, which was upon the waters of the river, when
he held up his right hand and his left hand unto heaven, and sware by him that liveth for
ever that it shall be for a time, times, and an half; and when he shall have accomplished
to scatter the power of the holy people, all these things shall be finished.
Daniel witnesses a conversation between two
dressed in white linen. One says and swares by God in heaven when the 3 1/2 years are
accomplished to scatter the power of God's holy people (timeframe 4 - the great 3 1/2 Christian
tribulation - see chart above, below), the rest of these scriptures will be fulflled. God's holy people with
power that are scattered, are those that became true Christians after the rapture. God's power by the Holy Spirit will be upon
them to be great witnesses for the Lord in word and deed. The Christian
tribulation after the rapture lasts 3 1/2 years (Rev 12:6,14 Rev 13:5, Daniel 7:25). When that tribulation ends
the tribulation martyrs for Christ will be resurrected to complete the church age and the
first resurrection (Rev 7:9-17, Rev 20:4,5).
After the tribulation saints are resurrected the 70th week of Daniel (last 7 years before Christ returns) begins (see chart below) in whichAntichrist invades
Israel in the middle of the 7 years (see also Daniel 9:27).
8 And I heard, but I
understood not: then said I, O my Lord, what shall be the end of these things?
9 And he said, Go thy way, Daniel: for the words are closed
up and sealed till the time of the end.
10 Many shall be purified, and made white, and tried; but the wicked shall do wickedly:
and none of the wicked shall understand; but the wise shall understand.
Daniel tried to understand but did not and was
told to go his way. In other words, his prophetic ministry was over and both God and
Daniel accomplished their purpose for the end time. During the fulfillment of these
endtime prophecies many shall be purified and made white and tried - this will especially
be true of the tribulation saints. The wicked
will become more wicked but the wise (those that understand
God's word) shall understand
DANIEL 12:11,12
11 And from the time that the daily sacrifice
shall be taken away, and the abomination that maketh desolate set up, there shall be a
thousand two hundred and ninety days.
12 Blessed is he that waiteth, and cometh to the thousand three hundred and five and
thirty days.
From the time Antichrist
invades Israel and stops the daily sacrifices in the temple and sets up the abomination of
desolation is 1290 days. Daniel 9:27 said
this would happen in the middle of Daniel's 70 th week. 1290
days is a little over 3 1/2 years which agrees with Daniel 9:27 where Daniel is told in the middle of the 7 years.
Daniel 9:27
27 And he shall confirm the covenant with
many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the
oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate,
even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.
After the rapture we have basically 3 time periods of 3 1/2
years. The tribulation period that immediately follows the rapture is 3 1/2 years (timeframe 4). Then we have the first 1/2
of Daniel's 70th week
which is roughly 3 1/2 years. Then we are told 1290 days will run it's course from
the middle of Daniel's week to the end of Daniel's 70th week. These
last 3 1/2 years (Daniel 9:27)
covers Antichrist invading Israel and fighting all those wars againts the king of the
north , south, east, and eventually Armageddon where he is defeated by the return of
Christ (see Daniel 11 page 3, Kingdom). Daniel is told that blessed is he
that waited and cometh to the 1335 days (1335-1290=40). This would be 40 days additional to when the 1290 days ends. This
additional 40 days could be the official time and public innaguration of the visible
kingdom of God on earth. Blessed is the man that enters in to the millenial reign of
Christ and the saints that now follows after the return of Christ and the defeat of
Antichrist and his armies. Christ and the saints will rule for a 1000 years on the earth
perfecting the Kingdom of God (see Kingdom)
Daniel
11:13
13 But go thou thy way till
the end be: for thou shalt rest, and stand in thy lot at the end of the days.
Daniel is told his ministry is finished and he
can now rest and that rest will follow him in death. At the end of the days he will stand
with all the saints in the day of resurrection (rapture)
and be one of the brightest shining stars due to the glory given him for his faithfulness.
1 And at that time
shall Michael stand up, the great prince which standeth for the children of thy people:
and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to
that same time: and at that time thy people shall be delivered, every one that shall be

life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt.
3 And they that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament; and they that turn
many to righteousness as the stars for ever and ever.
