Gog is Ezekiel's name for Satan.

  Gog is going to come against Israel in the midst of the 70th week of Daniel (3 1/2 years before Christ visibly returns - see chart above). This will be after the rapture and the 3 1/2 Christian tribulation period has ended and God is again dealing with the Jewish nation to bring them to Christ. Right after the rapture, Antichrist has died this mysterious death and Satan having been cast down to the earth at the same time enters into the body of Antichrist and brings him back to life (see timeframe 4 page 2). When this happens Ezekiel's name for Satan at this time is Gog; Magog is the person of Antichrist himself; land of Magog the heart of Antichrist's Empire(see timeframe 1). Gog and Magog is the dual personality of Antichrist when he operates after the rapture both as a human being and Satan incarnated in Antichrist.

Magog, Meshech and Tubal are descendents of Noah through Japheth Noah's son.

Gen 10:1,2
1 Now these are the generations of the sons of Noah, Shem, Ham, and Japheth: and unto them were sons born after the flood.
2 The sons of Japheth; Gomer, and Magog, and Madai, and Javan, and Tubal, and Meshech, and Tiras.

  Ezekiel does not know the future names of these land areas but identifies them for us by telling us where the descendents of Magog, Meshech and Tubal settled.

  Land of Magog - Josephus the great Jewish historian identifies the Magogites as descendents of the Scythians who branched eastward and westward from the region north of the Black Sea. Magogites are also considered to be Goths; a Germanic people that took over the Scythian territory. East and West Europe as the heart of Antichrist's Empire(the 10 horns of Daniel 7) would certainly be considered the land of Magog.

  Magog would also be the identification of Antichrist the man, and Gog as Satan who incarnates him after the rapture. Defeat of Gog and Magog (Satan and the beast ) will take place at the battle of Armageddon - see scriptures below. However, this dual personality of Gog and Magog will happen once again at the end of the millennium - 1000 year reign of Christ for a short season (see Kingdom).  The most Germanic country in Europe is Germany. See Daniel 7 on the role of Germany in the rise of Antichrist who is identified as the little horn.

Gog - Chief prince of Meshech and Tubal

    Certain Jewish writings (artscroll Tanach series) written by the 8th century identify the descendents of Meshech and Tubal as settling in the former western portions of Russian between the Black and Caspian Sea. Antichrist in his pre -rapture rise to power will extend his empire well beyond the Old Roman Empire land area and make this land area part of his empire (see Daniel 8) .

  This area has been a trouble spot with the Chechnya wars and terrorists and also has great oil deposits. After the rapture, when Satan has been cast down to earth and takes over Antichrist's body by death and resurrection, Satan operates as Gog and Antichrist as Magog. This is why Gog is the chief prince over Meshech and Tubal after the rapture.

*Note: Identifying Meshech and Tubal with Moscow and Tobolsk or any other cities in Russia is not based on ethnological or etymological considerations as some have based because of some similarity of sounds.

  God is going to bring Gog (who is the same as beast of Rev 13) to judgment by bringing him against the land (mountains of Israel) where Christ and the saints will return to defeat him (see Kingdom). To accomplish this, God is going to destroy 5/6 ths of his army and leave 1/6. Daniel 9:27 places the invasion of Israel by Antichrist about 3 1/2 years before Christ returns - that is - about the middle of Daniel's 70th week (the last 7 years before Christ returns - see chart above). During the first 3 1/2 years of Daniel's 70th week which is the same time period as the terrible Day of the Lord (see charts below and above) the earth is reeling from 6 of the trumpet/vial judgements.

  Antichrist has had major wars with the confederate nations called the King of the South and King of the North (Daniel 11) and Kings of the East (Rev 16:12). Antichrist has been worn down and the Gentile nations are reeling from the trumpet/vial judgments of the Day of the Lord (see above tables). In the meantime, Israel, since the time of the mass return - timeframe 2 before the rapture have their rebuilt temple housing the Ark of the Covenant (see timeframe 3), has enjoyed great prosperity, blessings, oil, gold, silver, cattle, goods, rich mineral deposits of the dead sea. All these things the nations want and Gog and Magog go after.
  Gog is said to be a gaurd (38:7) meaning a dictator. Antichrist is never given the honor of a king, the best he can do is be a dictator over these nations. Antichrist as Gog and Magog in desperation to rule the world and be worshipped as God sets his heart to invade Israel, commits the abomination of desolation in the temple in Jerusalem and sits in the temple (most likely on the Ark of the Covenant) to show that he is God (see Daniel 9, Daniel's 70th week). The judgment of Gog and Magog then is when Christ returns to defeat him at Armageddon and save Israel (see Kingdom and chart above). Gog's armyy would include all the armies of Magog, Gomer, Togarmah (both East and West Europe), Meschech and Tubal (area around te Black and Caspian Seas), Persia (modern Iran), Ethiopia, Libya and many others (those from other nations joining for the cause). Egypt is not mentioned and Babylon. They are both destroyed by Antichrist at this point (see fall of Babylon/Tyre and wars of Antichrist against Egypt during the last 7 years before Christ returns (Dan 11:40-44). Notice the emphasis on being dressed with all sorts of armor and head gear, buckler and shields. This is Ezekiel's way of describing modern armies today ready for chemical, biological or radiation. Both Ezekiel (38:4, 39:2) and Rev 16 tell us this is God's doing to bring Gog (the beast) to the battle of Armageddon for judgment. The nations of Antichrist surround Israel and his armies come in from the north - that is - north of Israel.

13 And I saw three unclean spirits like frogs come out of the mouth of the dragon, and out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet.
14 For they are the spirits of devils, working miracles, which go forth unto the kings of the earth and of the whole world, to gather them to the battle of that great day of God Almighty.

Ezekiel 38:8-14 (Israel dwelling safely before Gog invades)

8 After many days thou shalt be visited: in the latter years thou shalt come into the land that is brought back from the sword, and is gathered out of many people, against the mountains of Israel, which have been always waste: but it is brought forth out of the nations, and they shall dwell safely all of them.
9 Thou shalt ascend and come like a storm, thou shalt be like a cloud to cover the land, thou, and all thy bands, and many people with thee.
10 Thus saith the Lord God; It shall also come to pass, that at the same time shall things come into thy mind, and thou shalt think an evil thought:
11 And thou shalt say, I will go up to the land of unwalled villages; I will go to them that are at rest, that dwell safely, all of them dwelling without walls, and having neither bars nor gates,
12 To take a spoil, and to take a prey; to turn thine hand upon the desolate places that are now inhabited, and upon the people that are gathered out of the nations, which have gotten cattle and goods, that dwell in the midst of the land.
13 Sheba, and Dedan, and the merchants of Tarshish, with all the young lions thereof, shall say unto thee, Art thou come to take a spoil? hast thou gathered thy company to take a prey? to carry away silver and gold, to take away cattle and goods, to take a great spoil?
14 Therefore, son of man, prophesy and say unto Gog, Thus saith the Lord God; In that day when my people of Israel dwelleth safely, shalt thou not know it?


  These verses are discussed in timeframe 3 as evidence that the mass return of all Jews to Israel had taken place in timeframe 2 (mass return) before the rapture (see charts above). The mass return before the rapture and the reappearance of the the Ark of the Covenant settled the Arab/Israeli struggle of who owned Jerusalem. In timeframe 3 (Days of Noah) which is also before the rapture (see charts above) the Jews built their temple to house the Ark and great prosperity and blessings were upon them. This prosperity and dwelling without walls or gates for protection as described in Ezekiel 38 demonstrates their continued trust in Jehovah after the rapture and on into Daniel's 70th week (last 7 years before Christ returns - see chart above). Yet, Israel is backslidden and Jerusalem spiritually as Egypt and Sodom (see Two Witnesses of Rev 11) that God allows this invasion by Gog both to judge Antichrist and to bring Israel to a place where they call upon Christ as their deliverer and Messiah. Gog marches on Israel about 3 1/2 years before Christ returns (Daniel 9:27) but has many battles with other nations confederate with one another (King of the North, King of the South, Kings of the East (see Daniel 11, Rev 16:12-14).

Revelations 16:12-14
12 And the sixth angel poured out his vial upon the great river Euphrates; and the water thereof was dried up, that the way of the kings of the east might be prepared.
13 And I saw three unclean spirits like frogs come out of the mouth of the dragon, and out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet.
14 For they are the spirits of devils, working miracles, which go forth unto the kings of the earth and of the whole world, to gather them to the battle of that great day of God Almighty.

  Christ returns just as Gog is to make Jerusalem the world capitol and saves Israel.This will happen at the end of Daniel's 70th week at the battle of Armageddon (see kingdom).

The Defeat of Gog and Magog on the mountains of Israel

  Upon the mountains of Israel Gog and Magog (the beast of Rev 13 - the Antichrist) believes he is about to make Jerusalem the world's capitol. The whole earth is shaking at the presence of the Lord as Antichrist is on the mountains of Israel heading toward Zion in Jerusalem. The earth is reeling from the 7 trumpet/vial judgements (see trumpet/vial judgments chart above) poured out on the earth during the last 7 years called the Day of the Lord the same time period as Daniel's 70th week.)

  Because of the great heat and the melting of the polar caps the mightiest earthquake recorded will cause the earth to finally adjust upright as it was before Noah's flood (see Kingdom). The great hail of boulders and huge rocks flying through the air along with volcanoes being triggered to erupt will land as an overflowing rain of fire and brimstone upon Gog and Magog's armies (Ezek 38:19-23). The 6th and 7th trumpet/vial judgments cover from Gog and Magog's invasion of Israel and the gathering of armies worldwide to Israel for the battle of Armageddon when Christ returns (see Kingdom).

15 Behold, I come as a thief. Blessed is he that watcheth, and keepeth his garments, lest he walk naked, and they see his shame.
16 And he gathered them together into a place called in the Hebrew tongue Armageddon.
17 And the seventh angel poured out his vial into the air; and there came a great voice out of the temple of heaven, from the throne, saying, It is done.
18 And there were voices, and thunders, and lightning's; and there was a great earthquake, such as was not since men were upon the earth, so mighty an earthquake, and so great.
19 And the great city was divided into three parts, and the cities of the nations fell: and great Babylon came in remembrance before God, to give unto her the cup of the wine of the fierceness of his wrath.
20 And every island fled away, and the mountains were not found.
21 And there fell upon men a great hail out of heaven, every stone about the weight of a talent: and men blasphemed God because of the plague of the hail; for the plague thereof was exceeding great.

  Israel buries Gog (the beast of Rev 13 - the Antichrist) and his armies for 7 months and their weapons for 7 years and keep their spoils. These would be Gog's riches he obtained from his wars with the Kings of the South and North and from what he took from Israel (Ezek 38:12) beforehand. Evidently these activities run into the millenium (see Kingdom).
