7 After this I saw in the night visions, and behold a fourth beast,
dreadful and terrible, and strong exceedingly; and it had great iron teeth: it devoured
and brake in pieces, and stamped the residue with the feet of it: and it was diverse from
all the beasts that were before it; and it had ten horns.
First: Who are the 10
horns again?
From Daniel 2 and Daniel
7 page 1 we learned so far that the 10 toes of Daniel 2 and the 10 horns of Daniel 7 are the modern nations of East and West Europe that exist in the land
area that once was the Old Roman Empire area. The chart below reviews these truths.

The rise of the little horn
Daniel now gives us more information leading to the rise of
Antichrist. At some point among these 10 horns he sees action which was important for him
to record for us to know that are living in the last days. We begin with Daniel 7:8
Daniel 7:8
8 I considered the horns, and, behold, there came up among
them another little horn, before whom
there were three of the first
horns plucked up by the roots: and, behold, in this horn
were eyes like the eyes
of man, and a mouth speaking
great things.

8 I considered the horns, and, behold, there came up among them another
little horn
In Daniel 7:8, Daniel is going to introduce us to the person that will dominate world
history from his rise till Christ's visible return. He is called by different names but
Christians call him 'the Antichrist'. Antichrist must come from some nation and Daniel introduces us to
the nation and calls it 'the little horn'. When Antichrist does appear from that nation than he becomes more
important than the nation itself. A good example is when Christ entered into His
public ministry. He was more important in what He said and did than the nation of Israel
where He was born. Daniel first goes from the nation Antichrist comes from than moves on
more importantly to the person of Antichrist.
Some facts
that can be stated about the little horn
| 1: The fact that the 10 horns symbolize nations within the Old Roman Empire land area today (East and West Europe -see map and review above), the 'little horn' would clearly then be a small nation and that it comes up among/between the other nations(10 horns) - at least small at it's start. Daniel 7:8 says 'another little horn' meaning that some of the 10 horns Daniel first saw were also small. We know East and West Europe has several small nations. |
| 2: Since 'the little horn' appears as 'another little horn' while Daniel was considering the 10 horns means this small nation was created by circumstances different from those that created the 10 horns. The 10 horns of Daniel 7:8 like the 10 toes of Daniel 2 have their history and land evolving out of the the fall and division of the Roman Empire as we previously studied. If this was true of 'the little horn' then it would have been part of the 10 horns. Remember, the number 10 used symbolically is a round number. Daniel is simply saying whatever the number of nations symbolized by the 10 horns that have evolved from the Old Roman Empire land are included in the 10 horns (for review of this truth see Daniel 2). This little horn then, (an eleventh horn if you will) had to be brought forth among the 10 horns by unique circumstances not related to the previous history of the Roman empire land area. Yet, we are told this little horn comes out of the 4th beast - the Roman Empire land area. Confusing - I know - hold on. |
3: We are told that while Daniel was considering the 10 horns he saw new action as 'the little horn' came up/among/ the 10 horns. This means this small nation is a more modern nation arising among/between those nations symbolized by the first 10 horns (East and West Europe - see charts above) |
4: In the study
of same 'little horn' we read in Daniel 8:9 (see Daniel 8 page 2) that 'the little horn' extended his rule greatly to
the south, east, and toward the pleasant land (Israel). |
| 5: Habakkuk 1:6 (see Daniel 7 page 3) says the
nation that produces the Antichrist will be a nation that was known in the past for it's 'bitterness and hastiness'. Habakkuk, like
Daniel starts out with the nation Antichrist will use and then ends up with all attention
on the man. Both Daniel (Dan 11:36-39)
and Habakkuk 1:11 says he will
honor his success to his god. Each prophet Had His own unique identifier name for
Antichrist: Daniel - 'the little horn'; Isaiah 'the Assyrian' (Isaiah 10);
Paul - 'the man of sin' ( 2 Thessolonians 2); John in Revelations - 'the beast' (Revelations
13). For Habakkuk - it was 'the
Chaldean'. Chaldeans were a warring people that eventually
took over Babylonia. Antichrist will do the same. He will make Modern Babylon part of his
empire (Daniel 2,). The World Book Multimedia
Enclopedia says that the Chaldeans dwelt in Babylonia and excelled in Astrology and study
of planets and stars. It is no wonder Daniel picked the Chaldeans as a type or picture of
what will be dominant in Antichrist's Empire. Antichrist will be a great builder of cities
and promotor of a world religion that embraces all religions and gods (see timeframe 3 under
gentiles). What he does is magnify himself and his god above
the others and in the end only himself (Daniel
11:36). Habakkuk 1:6,11 6 For, lo, I raise up the Chaldeans, that bitter and hasty nation, which shall march through the breadth of the land, to possess the dwellingplaces that are not theirs. 11 Then shall his mind change change, and he shall pass over, and offend, imputing this his power unto his god. Daniel 11:38,39 38 But in his estate shall he honour the God of forces: and a god whom his fathers knew not shall he honour with gold, and silver, and with precious stones, and pleasant things. 39 Thus shall he do in the most strong holds with a strange god, whom he shall acknowledge and increase with glory: and he shall cause them to rule over many, and shall divide the land for gain. |
Here we have a unique situation.This
little nation 'the little horn'
that Daniel saw rise up within the Roman Empire land area, is a nation that was not
considered a part of the Roman Empire land area in it's past (10
horns). If it was, as we said earlier, it would have been
included in the symbolism of the 10 horns. Habakkuk says God is going to raise up that
nation (same nation as Daniel's little horn) which was a nation known for its bitterness and hastiness in the past .
Evidently, this nation was put down down for God says He is going to raise it back up to
serve his purpose (Hab 1:6). A
nation located in northwest of Europe. When we put Habakkuk and Daniel's words together we
come up with this truth. This small nation - 'the little horn' -
will be created among/between the 10 horns but yet had a past when it was not considered
one of the 10 horns and was known for its bitterness and hastiness. A nation that was put
down but God is going to raise it back up as 'the little horn' of Daniel 7:8. Hold
on now - we are almost there.
What country or nation fits all the facts.
What modern nation today started out as a small nation. A nation
which was not produced by the fall and division of the Roman Empire as the 10 horns were.
A nation in the northwest of Europe. A nation that was in the past known for it's
bitterness and hastiness and had been put down but yet not considered part of the old
Roman Empire land area (10 horns).
In this late stage of prophetic history this writer finds currently only one country that
meets all the conditions: MODERN GERMANY. Modern Germany started out as 'the little horn' when West Germany was
created in 1949. Let us review some German
history.
German history:
Germany past from the time of the Roman Empire to 1949 A.D. was never considered a part of the Old Roman Empire area even though a 1/3 part of it's land jutted down into it.
Germany: Pre WW2
Germany in the past was a unified country from 1871 to 1945.
Germany: Post
WW2
After World War II Germany was
divided into two states: the Federal Republic of Germany (West
Germany) and the German Democratic Republic (East Germany). West Germany created in 1949
was part in and outside the old Roman Empire area (see map
below) but it's capitol city
Bonn was inside. Though the part of West Germany inside was
small, yet, Daniel says 'the little horn' came out of the fourth beast (the Roman
Empire land area) and among/between the 10 horns (nations of East and West Europe within the Roman Empire land area - map
below). 'The little horn' (West Germany)
is then both a nation within and outside the Roman Empire area at the same time. The
creation of West Germany in 1949 with it's capitol in Bonn prophetically to me birthed 'the little horn' - that small nation of Daniel 7:8. East Germany was outside the old
Roman Empire area so it did not play a prophetic role at this time. Simply put -
Antichrist will be a man that was born in West Germany.

To me,
Daniel's 'little horn' of Daniel 7:8 - is that nation that will produce
the Antichrist. I know what you are going to say. West Germany does not exist anymore
because the Berlin Wall was torn down and East and West Germany united. I agree 100%.
However, West Germany did exist as a small nation from 1949 - 1990 A.D. and fulfilled all
the prophetic requirements as listed above. What I am saying, is that Antichrist was born
in West Germany during that window of time. We are now awaiting the person of Antichrist
himself to appear. When this happens we move from the nation to the man. The man becomes
more important not the nation anymore. However, Daniel by starting out with 'the little horn' is identifying the nation
where he will come from - that is - born from. Do not look for 'the little horn' of Daniel 7:8 or Daniel
8:9 as a nation to appear - that part of prophecy has been
fulfilled.
Now, another important event happened after East and West Germany united.
It's capitol of Bonn which was inside the Old Roman Empire land area was moved back to
Berlin in 2000 A.D. This means Germany is no longer considered part of the Old Roman
Empire land area because it's capitol is now outside that area just like it was through
most of its history. Scripturally speaking, if Antichrist was born at any other time in
German history (outside of when West Germany and its capitol
as Bonn existing from 1949 to 1990 A.D.)) Antichrist would
not be considered coming from the old Roman Empire land area and therefore not a Roman.
But we know from scripture that Antichrist will be considerd a Roman as told us in Daniel 9:26. Daniel clearly says that the
future prince (Antichrist) will
be from the people that destroyed Jerusalem and its temple after Christ was crucified (see Daniel 9).
The time when Antichrist to appear is a time when Russia has taken back East Europe,
splitting the EU, and challenging NATO (see Daniel page 4). This situation
will put tremendous phycological, geopolitical, economic, military on Germany - the nation
that is gateway to Western Civilization when the transgressors are at it's door. On top of
all this everything else will be at a max - terroism, nations and terrorist's acquiring
WMD's (weapons of mass destruction - chemicl, nuclear,
biological), situation in Iraq, Iran, Middle East and a host
of other trouble spots. Prophecy has much more to say how these events will play
themselves out as we continue to study Daniel.
Daniel 9:26
And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off,
but not for himself: and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city
and the sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and unto the end of the war
desolations are determined.

Final thoughts
-
When one considers the prophecies of the mass
return of the Jews to begin around 2007-2008 A.D. (see homepage chart, Ezek 4, timeframe
2), and that Antichrist and his empire will be formed before that (see also rapture), by me stating Antichrist was born
sometime between 1949 and 1990 sounds right. Since Antichrist reigns quite a few years
after he comes to power I would lean more toward him being in his 30's when he comes to
power. If this is the case he would be born in the late 60's or early 70's. Time will tell.

had a dream and visions of his head upon his bed: then
he wrote the dream, and told the sum of the matters.
2 Daniel spake and said, I saw in my vision by night, and, behold, the four winds of the

9 I beheld till the thrones were cast down, and the Ancient of days did sit, whose garment
was white as snow, and the hair of his head like the pure wool: his throne was like the
fiery flame, and his wheels as burning fire.
10 A fiery stream issued and came forth frm before him:
thousand thousands ministered unto him, and ten
thousand times ten thousand stood before him: the
judgment was set, and the books were opened.
11 I beheld then because of the voice of the great words
which the horn spake: I beheld even till the beast was
slain, and his body destroyed, and given to the burning flame.
12 As concerning the rest of the beasts, they had their
dominion taken away: yet their lives were prolonged for a season and time.
13 I saw in the night visions, and, behold, one like the Son of man came with the clouds
of heaven, and came to the Ancient of days, and they brought him near before him.
14 And there was given him dominion, and glory, and a
kingdom, that all people, nations, and languages, should serve him: his dominion is an
everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom that which shall not be
destroyed.
15 I Daniel was grieved in my spirit in the midst of my body, and the visions of my head
troubled me.
16 I came near unto one of them that stood by, and asked
him the truth of all this. So he told me, and made me know the interpretation of the
things.
17 These great beasts, which are four, are four kings, which shall
arise out of the earth.
18 But the saints of the most High shall take the kingdom, and possess the kingdom for
ever, even for ever and ever.
19 Then I would know the truth of the fourth beast, which
was diverse from all the others, exceeding dreadful, whose teeth were of iron, and his
nails of brass; which devoured, brake in pieces, and stamped the residue with his feet;
20 And of the ten horns that were in his head, and of the
other which came up, and before whom three fell; even of that horn that had eyes, and a
mouth that spake very great things, whose look was more stout than his fellows.
21 I beheld, and the same horn made war with the saints,
and prevailed against them;
22 Until the Ancient of days came, and judgment was given
to the saints of the most High; and the time came that the saints possessed the kingdom.
23 Thus he said, The fourth beast shall be the fourth
kingdom upon earth, which shall be diverse from all kingdoms, and shall devour the whole
earth, and shall tread it down, and break it in pieces.
24 And the ten horns out of this kingdom are ten kings that shall arise: and another shall
rise after them; and he shall be diverse from the first, and he shall subdue three kings.
25 And he shall speak great words against the most High,
and shall wear out the saints of the most High, and think to change times and laws: and
they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time.
26 But the judgment shall sit, and they shall take away his dominion, to consume and to
destroy it unto the end.
27 And the kingdom and dominion, and the greatness of the
kingdom under the whole heaven, shall be given to the
people of the saints of the most High, whose kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and all
dominions shall serve and obey him.
28 Hitherto is the end of the matter. As for me Daniel, my cogitations much troubled me,
and my countenance changed in me: but I kept the matter in my heart.
