Page 2: Major detail on the activities of Antichrist as the beast; the god he will honor with silver and gold and a 'God of forces'. Also much detail the treaty and invasion of Israel as told  in Dan 9:27 (Daniel's 70th week)
Page 3:The wars of Antichrist with the kings of the north and south as he makes his way to Zion in Jerusalem to rule the whole world. He honors a 'God of forces' and sits in the rebuilt temple of Jerusalem upon the Ark (see timeframe 2, 3) to show that he is god. Christ returns to save Israel and defeat the beast and his armies at the great and last battle called armageddon. The Kingdom of God is established forever over all nations.

Daniel 11:21:22
wpe31.jpg (1779 bytes)
21 And in his estate shall stand up a vile person, to whom they shall not give the honour of the kingdom: but he shall come in peaceably, and obtain the kingdom
by flatteries.
22 And with the arms of a flood shall they be overflown from before him, and shall be broken; yea, also the prince of the covenant.

21 And in his estate shall stand up a vile person

In our previous study (page 1), we saw that the vile person of Daniel 11:21 is Antichrist after the rapture. Before and up to the rapture Satan has ruled over 7 world empires (Egyptian, Assyrian, Babylonian, Persian, Grecian, Roman, and the 7th being Antichrist's). Antichrist's Empire is a continuation of the old Roman Empire land area in the last days, but also includes land area belonging to all the previous empires (see Daniel 2, Daniel 7, Daniel 8). Rev 12(see also Daniel 7 page 5, Daniel 8 page 4) tells us how Satan and his angels are cast down to earth sometime after Antichrist has formed his empire and right after the rapture has taken place. Rev 13 (see timeframe 4 -the beast) picks up the story of what is going on after Satan is cast down to earth. Antichrist died of a sword (weapon) wound, but Satan brings him back to life. When he comes back to life Antichrist and Satan are worshipped together. Rev 13 calls him 'the beast'.

Rev 13:1-4
1 And I stood upon the sand of the sea, and saw a beast rise up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and upon his horns ten crowns, and upon his heads the name of blasphemy.
2 And the beast which I saw was like unto a leopard, and his feet were as the feet of a bear, and his mouth as the mouth of a lion: and the dragon gave him his power, and his seat, and great authority.
3 And I saw one of his heads as it were wounded to death; and his deadly wound was healed: and all the world wondered after the beast.
4 And they worshipped the dragon which gave power unto the beast: and they worshipped the beast, saying, Who is like unto the beast? who is able to make war with him?

  The post-rapture '
vile person' of Daniel 11:21 is the same Antichrist as the   pre-rapture 'raiser of taxes' in Daniel 11:20. What makes Antichrist the 'vile person' after the rapture is that now he is also Satan incarnate. The beast of Rev 13 and the the' vile person' of Daniel 11:21 are the same person. Antichrist who has died after the rapture now comes back to life as Satan in the flesh. How vile can you get being Satan incarnate. Antichrist, as the beast, is now ruler of the empire Antichrist had before his sinister death and resurrection. An eighth empire you may say yet it is of the seventh since it is the same person - Antichrist-  and yet different because he is also Satan incarnate. This is wonderfully summed up in Revelations 17:10-14.

Rev 17:10-14
10 And there are seven kings: five are fallen, and one is, and the other is not yet come; and when he cometh, he must continue a short space.
11 And the beast that was, and is not, even he is the eighth, and is of the seven, and goeth into perdition.
12 And the ten horns which thou sawest are ten kings, which have received no kingdom as yet; but receive power as kings one hour with the beast.
13 These have one mind, and shall give their power and strength unto the beast.
14 These shall make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb shall overcome them: for he is Lord of lords, and King of kings: and they that are with him are called, and chosen, and faithful.

21 whom they shall not give the honour of the kingdom:

The heart of Antichrist's kingdom is the nations of East and West Europe (10 horns of Daniel - see Daniel 7). These nations all have kings but the best these nations can do for Antichrist is to let him be a dictator for them.

21 but he shall come in peaceably, and obtain the kingdom by flatteries.

This part of the verse harkens back to the inital rise of Antichrist when he spoke of peace and flatteries (great promises) to obtain rule over these nations. From our study of Daniel 7 and Daniel 8, we saw Antichrist make the necessary star wars with Satan and his angels giving him the necessary visbile air power from outer space to make his land forces successful against the transgressors. All these nations are now on the side of Antichrist because he defeated the transgressors in the name of peace and his great promises of a new age . All this confirms the 'vile person' is no other than Antichrist after the rapture and yet the 'raiser of taxes' before the rapture (Daniel 11:20).

22 And with the arms of a flood shall they be overflown from before him, and shall be broken; yea, also the prince of the covenant.

                    wpe39.jpg (36765 bytes)

Again, we have the continuation of this 'vile person' who used peace and flatteries to obtain rule over the kingdom and yet made those necessary star wars against the transgressors and defeated (broken - verse 22 above) them (see Daniel 8) when he came to power and formed his initial empire. Daniel is now told, that this 'vile person' is also the 'prince of the covenant' spoken of in our study of Daniel 9. This is another confirmation that he is Antichrist after the rapture because Daniel 9:27 tells us that Antichrist as the Roman prince makes a 7 year treaty with Israel which ends with Christ's return. This 7 years is known as the 70th week of Daniel and takes place after the church age (see study of chart below and Daniel 9.

Daniel 9:27
27 And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.

Up to Daniel 11:22 we have in essence reviewed with some added detail what was told us already in Daniel 2, 7, 8 , 9Daniel 11 follows the same pattern. Remember Daniel 10 served to introduce Daniel 11.

wpe123.jpg (1112 bytes)Daniel 11:23,24
23 And after the league made with him he shall work deceitfully: for he shall come up, and shall become strong with a small people.
24 He shall enter peaceably even upon the fattest places of the province; and he shall do that which his fathers have not done, nor his fathers' fathers; he shall scatter among them the prey, and spoil, and riches: yea, and he shall forecast his devices against the strong holds, even for a time.

23 And after the league made with him he shall work deceitfully: for he shall come up, and shall become strong with a small people.

Again, quoting Daniel 9:27 Daniel told us that the Roman prince (Antichrist after the rapture - see chart above) makes a 7 year treaty to confirm God's holy covenant with many.

Daniel 9:27
27 And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.

  The '
many' of Daniel 9:27 could be other national leaders and dignitaries other than Israel itself. However, notice Daniel 11:23 above says he shall become strong with 'a small people' not necessarily the whole nation of Israel itself.  I t appears then that Antichrist having approval of the many which could be world leaders (U.N.?) and at the same time be  working deceitfully (saying one thing but meaning another) with a small but strong religious or political faction in Israel. The result is, he becomes the prince of this covenant with Israel but then shows his true intentions shortly afterwards. The covenant that God made concerning the promised land, its borders and that it belongs to the Jews was made by God tp Abraham and found in Gen 15:18

Genesis 15:18
18 In the same day the LORD made a covenant with Abram, saying, Unto thy seed have I given this land, from the river of Egypt unto the great river, the river Euphrates:

Antichrist is now attempting to usurp the place of Jehovah God and confirming the fulfillment of this covenant.  Antichrist, after successfully securing the borders he marches into Jerusalem and pollutes the sanctuary of strength (
temple that houses the Ark of the Covenant). He stops the priestly and sacrificial system, and places the abomination that maketh desolate - an idol of himself to be worshipped as God and also sits in the temple to show that he is God (see Daniel 8:11, 12 and Daniel 9:27 for more detail).

wpe123.jpg (1112 bytes)Daniel 11:25
25 He shall enter peaceably even upon the fattest places of the province; and he shall do that which his fathers have not done, nor his fathers' fathers; he shall scatter among them the prey, and spoil, and riches: yea, and he shall forecast his devices against the strong holds, even for a time.

Antichrist invading the land of Israel in the last days is also found in Ezekiel 38:8 (see Gog and Magog)

Ezekiel 38:8
8 After many days thou shalt be visited: in the latter years thou shalt come into the land that is brought back from the sword, and is gathered out of many people, against the mountains of Israel, which have been always waste: but it is brought forth out of the nations, and they shall dwell safely all of them.

Comparing timecharts let us review some important truths before going further. The prophecies of
Ezekiel 38 and 39 (see Gog and Magog) which are fulfilled after the rapture are not to be confused with the prophecies connected with the mass return of the Jews fulfilled before the rapture (see time frame 2).

4 Phases Jews shipped to Egypt from many nations to rid of them Nation of Israel flees to Egypt in 'Day of Calamity' Jews repent in Egypt. All eyes on Ethiopia as Ark reappears 2nd exodus out of Egypt with the Ark of the Covenant

Prophecies connected with the mass return are found in Ezekiel 35, 36 and 37, the whole book of Obadiah and many other scriptures. They tell the complete story of Jews worldwide being deported to Egypt and trying to sell themsleves as slaves and no one to buy them (Deut. 28:68).
At the same time Israel has been taken over by their worst enemies - the arabs helped by foreign forces. Their enemies use the sword (
weapons) and shed much Jewish blood. This trial for the Jews is known as their 'time of calamity'. At the same time the Ark of the Covenant reappears with tremendous destruction upon the enemies of the Jews at a time when many Jews turn back to Jehovah to obey the laws of Moses. A second exodus (Isa 11:11) then takes place out of Egypt with the Ark. God continues to demonstrate his power over the elements like as in the first exodus out of Egypt in the days of their fathers. They will again cross the Jordan and the Red Sea and defeat of many of their enemies like as in the day of Joshua. The Jews now take more land than they had before they lost it. Having the Ark they build their temple (time frame 3) and Israel becomes very prosperous amd greatly multiplied in silver, gold, cattle and goods, besides the great increase in population as Jews come from all nations. After the rapture the Christian tribulation lasting 3 1/2 years takes place (timeframe 4) ending the church age. Immediately following is Daniel's 70th week - a time when Antichrist taking the place of God makes this 7 year treaty confirming the covenant made with Abraham. He then uses this treaty as an excuse to surround Israel as it's protector and then invades Israel about 3 1/2 years into the treaty - that is - about 3 1/2 years before Christ returns and defeats Antichrist (see Kingdom). These last 3 1/2 years is the time now that both Daniel 11:25, Daniel 9:27 , Ezekiel 38 and 39 (Gog and Magog) are talking about .

25 He shall enter peaceably even upon the fattest places of the province;

Ezekiel 38:9
9 Thou shalt ascend and come like a storm, thou shalt be like a cloud to cover the land, thou, and all thy bands, and many people with thee.

Antichrist, after usurping God's position and making this 7 year treaty to insure the land of Israel is protected deceitfully chooses out for himself the fattest (most richest areas) to take for himself. Remember, after the rapture God in heaven is pouring out the judgments of revelations (7th seal in chart abovel) upon the Gentile nations and they desperately need what Israel has - oil, gold, silver, cattle and goods. (timeframe 5 - Day of the Lord).

24 and he shall do that which his fathers have not done, nor his fathers' fathers

Antichrist does that which his Roman fathers and their fathers have not done. Ezekiel 38:10, 11 puts it this way

Ezekiel 38:10,11
10 Thus saith the Lord God; It shall also come to pass, that at the same time shall things come into thy mind, and thou shalt think an evil thought:
11 And thou shalt say, I will go up to the land of unwalled villages; I will go to them that are at rest, that dwell safely, all of them dwelling without walls, and having neither bars nor gates,

After the the mass return and reappearing of the Ark of the Covenant (timeframe 2), and the rebuilding of the temple for the Ark of the Covenant (timeframe3) all before the rapture (see charts above), the Jews having the Ark in their midst and seen its return as the pledge of Jehovah's protection , rebuilt their cities during timeframe3 without walls, bars or gates dwelling safely. They also reinstituted the priestly and sacrifical system in the temple. Ezekiel 38:10,11 is now talking about the Jews after the rapture during this time of Antichrist's 7 year treaty (see Daniel 11:23,24 above) and they are still trusting in God's protection.   After the rapture and after the great 3 1/2 year Christian tribulation period (timeframe 4), the church age ends (see charts above) and God is now dealing with Israel to bring that nation to Christ. God allows Antichrist to make this 7 year treaty with Israel at a time that they still feel protected by Jehovah. But a lot has changed since the events of the mass return (timeframe 2). In the time between these events before till after the rapture, Satan has infiltrated every avenue of their life. Prosperity, trade, tourism has brought all the glitter and limelight and spiritual darkness of the world into Israel. She is morally and spiritually bankrupt and Jerusalem has become as Sodom and Gommorah (see two witnesses). Even though the Jews have their temple, priestly and sacrificial system, they do not have the Prince of Peace and the One that can cleanse them from all sin. The events of Daniel 11:23, 24, Daniel 9:27 and Ezekiel 38 and 39 (Gog and Magog) now all occur after the rapture. God will allow Antichrist to invade Israel because the end result will be that they turn to receive Christ - the one they rejected the first time. They will all mourn and weep at His visible coming and say - blessed is He that cometh in the name of the Lord. The nation of Israel then will receive Him as Lord and Saviour and their King (see Kingdom).

24 he shall scatter among them the prey, and spoil, and riches:

Ezekiel 38:12
12 To take a spoil, and to take a prey; to turn thine hand upon the desolate places that are now inhabited, and upon the people that are gathered out of the nations, which have gotten cattle and goods, that dwell in the midst of the land.

'He shall scatter among them the prey, spoil and riches'.  The 'them' in this verse are those nations that are the heart of Antichrist's Empire - the 10 toes/horns of Daniel 2 and Daniel 7 that are the nations in West and East Europe. They all get to cash in on what Israel has been blessed with since the mass return took place (timeframe 2). Some believe that there is great reserves of oil yet to be tapped in the land of Israel and that after the mass return (timeframe 2), God will allow them to dip into it. This could be the great 'spoil' talked of in both Daniel 11:25 and Ezekiel 38:12. The prey are the cattle and goods the Jews have acquired. Antichrist will also rob them of their riches and valuables.

Ezekiel 38:13 (reaction of other nations to Antichrist's actions)
13 Sheba, and Dedan, and the merchants of Tarshish, with all the young lions thereof, shall say unto thee, Art thou come to take a spoil? hast thou gathered thy company to take a prey? to carry away silver and gold, to take away cattle and goods, to take a great spoil?

Other nations, Sheba, Dedan, Merchants of Tarshish with all the young loins question the motive of Antichrist and this great army. This group of nations are independent of Antichrist. This would be a fourth group of nations besides nations that make up the 'King of the south' and 'King of the north' and those nations confederate with Antichrist himself. As we study Daniel 11 we see Antichrist fights all these groups. They will oppose his plans of domination and lust for control of the world (see Gog and Magog).
   Notice the words '
carry away' and 'take away' (Ezek 38:13 above). Antichrist is stripping Israel and feeding his great armies blinding them with promises of ruling the world with Jerusalem as his capitol and Antichrist himself being worshipped as God.

25 yea, and he shall forecast his devices against the strong holds, even for a time.

Antichrist is bullying the nations that oppose him. He forcast his devices against their strongholds for a time. What an interesting word is used here 'his devices'. You must remember that first, before the rapture, Antichrist came to power with Satan and his angels helping him. In the study of Daniel 7 and especially Daniel 8, we saw that Antichrist will march by land while Satan and his angels give him visible star war type air support showing their are advanced races besides man in this universe. These lying signs and wonders will be along the idea of UFO'S and flying saucers. We will have to await the exact events to say for sure but it will surely be along these lines. But those signs and lying wonders appeared at the rise of Antichrist when Satan and his angels were still the principalities and powers of the air and outer space before the rapture. Rev 12(see also Daniel 7 page 5, Daniel 8 page 4) all mention that after the rapture Satan and his angels are cast down to earth. Antichrist dies this mysterious death and comes back to life due to Satan personally incarnating him (see Daniel 11:22, 23 top of page). Christ and the saints that were caught up to meet the Lord at the rapture are the new powers of the air. Satan is now incarnated in Antichrist and his angels are all now on earth. They have lost their advantage in the heavens (air and outer space) and are not in a position (because they are now on earth) to do these star war deceptions like they did before the rapture. But! the world is deceived and does not realize how limited Antichrist is. Antichrist, here in Daniel 11:25 is bluffing, and saying to those that now oppose him - remember what I did to those transgressors back when I first came to power (see Daniel 8), and how I destroyed them with those devices. These devices were actually his great signs and lying wonders in the heavens (UFO'S or alien or motherships or something along that line) that Satan and his fallen angels used as their base in the heavens when they waged their visible air campaign to establish Antichrist and his empire. Now he is threathening to use the same star war number on them again but it is now just empty words. Satan after the rapture is now on earth as a man incarnated in Antichrist and is on the same footing as the other nations. He has to resort to brute man power and earthly weapons that are available to him. He will operate in this increasing dimishing role from the time of the rapture  to Christ 's visible return in which he and his armies are defeated (see Kingdom and charts above).

wpe123.jpg (1112 bytes)Daniel 11:25-28
25 And he shall stir up his power and his courage against the king of the south with a great army; and the king of the south shall be stirred up to battle with a very great and mighty army; but he shall not stand: for they shall forecast devices against him.
26 Yea, they that feed of the portion of his meat shall destroy him, and his army shall overflow: and many shall fall down slain.
27 And both these kings' hearts shall be to do mischief, and they shall speak lies at one table; but it shall not prosper: for yet the end shall be at the time appointed.
28 Then shall he return into his land with great riches; and his heart shall be against the holy covenant; and he shall do exploits, and return to his own land.

25 And he shall stir up his power and his courage against the king of the south with a great army; and the king of the south shall be stirred up to battle with a very great and mighty army; but he shall not stand: for they shall forecast devices against him.

Antichrist and his great army faces great opposition from the King of the south. Those would be a group of nations that would come into Palestine from the south. Egypt is not mentioned by name but Egypt is to become very powerful.  Many nations in Africa may be confederate with Egypt. This is what Jeremiah saw in Jeremiah 46:7-9.

Jeremiah 46:7-9
7 Who is this that cometh up as a flood, whose waters are moved as the rivers?
8 Egypt riseth up like a flood, and his waters are moved like the rivers; and he saith, I will go up, and will cover the earth; I will destroy the city and the inhabitants thereof.
9 Come up, ye horses; and rage, ye chariots; and let the mighty men come forth; the Ethiopians and the Libyans, that handle the shield; and the Lydians, that handle and bend the bow.
10 For this is the day of the Lord God of hosts,

Notice the time frame (verse 10 - the Day of the Lord; same time frame as Daniel's 70th week -see also Daniel 9). Again, Antichrist is forecasting his devices (see verse 25) against his enemies which he now cannot carry out. However, the threat alone puts panic among these nations that saw (television) or heard (radio, etc) or experienced the wars of Antichrist at is rise before the rapture. This forecasting by Antichrist to use devices puts division among the ranks of the enemy. Antichrist wins this round with the King of the South.

26 Yea, they that feed of the portion of his meat shall destroy him, and his army shall overflow: and many shall fall down slain.
27 And both these kings' hearts shall be to do mischief, and they shall speak lies at one table; but it shall not prosper: for yet the end shall be at the time

Those that feed of the portion of his meat (Antichrist feeds his own to keep them loyal) and his army is successful in battle against the King of the south. Many shall be killed in these wars but a big eventful meeting where they sit down and tell big lies to one another brings a temporary truce that will not hold.

Then shall he return into his land with great riches; and his heart shall be against the holy covenant; and he shall do exploits, and return to his own land.

Antichrist returns back to his kingdom with great riches (probably many of the treasures of Egypt). Antichrist is now considering taking over Jerusalem again but he knows that the true God of heaven made that covenant with Abraham. He knows God keeps His covenant to protect Israel from their enemies when Israel is faithful. This truth weighs on Antichrist very much because he is determined to have the promised land for himself. Antichrist does not forget the tremendous victories and display of the power of God over Israel's enemies when He led them a second time out Egypt in the mass return and the Ark of the Covenant was in their midst (timeframe 2 phase 4)

wpe123.jpg (1112 bytes)Daniel 11:29-31
29 At the time appointed he shall return, and come toward the south; but it shall not be as the former, or as the latter.
30 For the ships of Chittim shall come against him: therefore he shall be grieved, and return, and have indignation against the holy covenant: so shall he do; he shall even return, and have intelligence with them that forsake the holy covenant.
31 And arms shall stand on his part, and they shall pollute the sanctuary of strength, and shall take away the daily sacrifice, and they shall place the abomination that maketh desolate.

Antichrist is ready to do battle against the King of the south again but the ships of Chittim come against him and he is grieved. Who these Chiitims are remains to be seen but they slow Antichrist down and he heads back to his own dominion. There he broods over the holy covenant God made with Abraham and has intelligence with them that forsake the holy covenant. Intelligence applied here is to the defectors of Israel giving intelligent information on how Antichrist can accomplish the takeover of Israel. These would be the 'small people' mentioned in verse 23 (see above). This sharing of intelligence seems to result in Israel now be successfully surrounded by Antichrist's armies as told in the next verse.

31 And arms shall stand on his part, and they shall pollute the sanctuary of strength, and shall take away the daily sacrifice, and they shall place the abomination that maketh desolate.

Arms would mean tanks, army vehicles, soldiers under Antichrist standing, acting as a protector of Israel's borders as spelled out in the holy covenant, but in reality has Israel and Jerusalem surrounded. The words 'stand on his part' - that is- no one can enter or leave unless they pass through his lines of defense. After successfully securing the borders he marches into Jerusalem and pollutes the sanctuary of strength (temple that houses the Ark of the Covenant). He stops the priestly and sacrificial system, and places the abomination that maketh desolate - an idol of himself to be worshipped as God.  See Daniel 8:11, 12 and Daniel 9:27 for more detail.

Daniel 8:11,12
11 Yea, he magnified himself even to the prince of the host, and by him the daily sacrifice was taken away, and the place of his sanctuary was cast down.
12 And an host was given him against the daily sacrifice by reason of transgression, and it cast down the truth to the ground; and it practised, and prospered.

Daniel 9:27

27 And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.

Daniel 11

1 Also I in the first year of Darius the Mede, even I, stood to confirm and to strengthen him.
2 And now will I shew thee the truth. Behold, there shall stand up yet three kings in Persia; and the fourth shall be far richer than they all: and by his strength through his riches he shall stir up all against the realm of Grecia.
3 And a mighty king shall stand up, that shall rule with great dominion, and do according to his will.
4 And when he shall stand up, his kingdom shall be broken, and shall be divided toward the four winds of heaven; and not to his posterity, nor according to his dominion which he ruled: for his kingdom shall be plucked up, even for others beside those.
5 And the king of the south shall be strong, and one of his princes; and he shall be strong above him, and have dominion; his dominion shall be a great dominion.
6 And in the end of years they shall join themselves together; for the king's daughter of the south shall come to the king of the north to make an agreement: but she shall not retain the power of the arm; neither shall he stand, nor his arm: but she shall be given up, and they that brought her, and he that begat her, and he that strengthened her in these times.
7 But out of a branch of her roots shall one stand up in his estate, which shall come with an army, and shall enter into the fortress of the king of the north, and shall deal against them, and shall prevail:
8 And shall also carry captives into Egypt their gods, with their princes, and with their precious vessels of silver and of gold; and he shall continue more years than the king of the north.
9 So the king of the south shall come into his kingdom, and shall return into his own land.
10 But his sons shall be stirred up, and shall assemble a multitude of great forces: and one shall certainly come, and overflow, and pass through: then shall he return, and be stirred up, even to his fortress.
11 And the king of the south shall be moved with choler, and shall come forth and fight with him, even with the king of the north: and he shall set forth a great multitude; but the multitude shall be given into his hand.
12 And when he hath taken away the multitude, his heart shall be lifted up; and he shall cast down many ten thousands: but he shall not be strengthened by it.
13 For the king of the north shall return, and shall set
forth a multitude greater than the former, and shall certainly come after certain years with a great army and with much riches.
14 And in those times there shall many stand up against the king of the south: also the robbers of thy people shall exalt themselves to establish the vision; but they shall fall.
15 So the king of the north shall come, and cast up a mount, and take the most fenced cities: and the arms of the south shall not withstand, neither his chosen people, neither shall there be any strength to withstand.
16 But he that cometh against him shall do according to his own will, and none shall stand before him: and he shall stand in the glorious land, which by his hand shall be consumed.
17 He shall also set his face to enter with the strength of his whole kingdom, and upright ones with him; thus shall he do: and he shall give him the daughter of women, corrupting her: but she shall not stand on his side, neither be for him.
18 After this shall he turn his face unto the isles, and shall take many: but a prince for his own behalf shall cause the reproach offered by him to cease; without his own reproach he shall cause it to turn upon him.
19 Then he shall turn his face toward the fort of his own land: but he shall stumble and fall, and not be found.
20 Then shall stand up in his estate a raiser of taxes in the glory of the kingdom: but within few days he shall be destroyed, neither in anger, nor in battle.
21 And in his estate shall stand up a vile person, to whom they shall not give the honour of the kingdom: but he shall come in peaceably, and obtain the kingdom by flatteries.
22 And with the arms of a flood shall they be overflown from before him, and shall be broken; yea, also the prince of the covenant.
25 And he shall stir up his power and his courage against
the king of the south with a great army; and the king of the south shall be stirred up to battle with a very great and mighty army; but he shall not stand: for they shall forecast devices against him.
29 At the time appointed he shall return, and come toward
the south; but it shall not be as the former, or as the latter.
32 And such as do wickedly against the covenant shall he
corrupt by flatteries: but the people that do know their God shall be strong, and do exploits.
33 And they that understand among the people shall instruct many: yet they shall fall by the sword, and by flame, by captivity, and by spoil, many days.
34 Now when they shall fall, they shall be holpen with a
little help: but many shall cleave to them with flatteries.
35 And some of them of understanding shall fall, to try them, and to purge, and to make them white, even to the time of the end: because it is yet for a time appointed.
36 And the king shall do according to his will; and he shall exalt himself, and magnify himself above every god, and shall speak marvellous things against the God of gods, and shall prosper till the indignation be accomplished: for that that is determined shall be done.
37 Neither shall he regard the God of his fathers, nor the desire of women, nor regard any god: for he shall magnify himself above all.
38 But in his estate shall he honour the God of forces: and a god whom his fathers knew not shall he honour with gold, and silver, and with precious stones, and pleasant things.
39 Thus shall he do in the most strong holds with a strange god, whom he shall acknowledge and increase with glory: and he shall cause them to rule over many, and shall divide the land for gain.
40 And at the time of the end shall the king of the south push at him: and the king of the north shall come against him like a whirlwind, with chariots, and with horsemen, and with many ships; and he shall enter into the countries, and shall overflow and pass over.
41 He shall enter also into the glorious land, and many
countries shall be overthrown: but these shall escape out of his hand, even Edom, and Moab, and the chief of the children of Ammon.
42 He shall stretch forth his hand also upon the countries: and the land of Egypt shall not escape.
43 But he shall have power over the treasures of gold and
of silver, and over all the precious things of Egypt: and the Libyans and the Ethiopians shall be at his steps.
44 But tidings out of the east and out of the north shall
trouble him: therefore he shall go forth with great fury to destroy, and utterly to make away many.
45 And he shall plant the tabernacles of his palace between the seas in the glorious holy mountain; yet he shall come to his end, and none shall help him.
